Satellite Meetings - World Paediatric Anaesthesia Satelite Meeting << back

"As many of you know the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists is to be held in Cape Town South Africa from the 2nd -7th March 2008 at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in the Waterfront area of Cape Town .

The WORLD PAEDIATRIC ANAESTHESIA SATELLITE MEETING will be held before the WCA on the 29TH February 2008- easy to remember its LEAP YEAR! - at the VINEYARD HOTEL, NEWLANDS (a suburb of CAPE TOWN)

The innovative program is currently taking shape. The talks are aimed at current issues in Pediatric Anesthesia and will be placed on a website linked to the WCA in the near future (July). Details regarding accommodation, registration, cycle tour etc will also be available on the website.

Buses will be arranged to transport delegates from the ICC to the Vineyard for those who plan to stay at the Hotels close to the ICC in the Waterfront area

We have chosen 29th February for a number of reasons

1. The Satellite meeting has never been held on Leap Year before!
2. The Paediatric Anaesthesia program at the World Congress is scheduled for the MONDAY AND TUESDAY
3. Cape Town will be inundated with 35000 cyclists for the 109 km Argus Cycle Tour around the Cape Peninsula on Sunday 9th March. Hotel accommodation will therefore be at a premium and the main roads will be closed for the event. My advice would be to get out of Cape Town by that weekend if you are not a cyclist. If you are a cyclist then my advice is to take part in the Tour. There is no better way to see the beauty of Cape Town and its environs! It is both a race and a fun ride with plenty of crowd support along the way! Cape Town knows how to party!!
